Appointment as General Manager of CIAQ

Saint-Hyacinthe, October 31, 2012 – Following the retirement of Mr. Normand Renaud, the Centre d’insémination artificielle du Québec (CIAQ) is proud to announce that Mr. Mario Hébert was appointed General Manager effective November 12, 2012.

Mr. Hébert is well known by the agricultural and agri-food world, both in Quebec and Canada. He was Senior Economist and executive lead for sustainable development at La Coop fédérée (2001-2010), Assistant Director at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (1999-2001), Research and Agricultural Policy Director at l'Union des producteurs agricoles (1996-1998) and Assistant General Manager at the Fédération des producteurs de lait du Québec (1991-1996). Mr. Hébert was also a member of CIAQ's Board of Directors from 2006 to 2010. Prior to his appointment as General Manager of CIAQ, he was Director of Public Affairs at Fondaction CSN.

Originally from Bedford, Mario Hébert graduated in Economics at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, prior to complete graduate studies in Economics at the Université des sciences sociales de Grenoble.

The new CIAQ General Manager indicated looking optimistically to the future and expressed the desire to continue on the path inspired by his predecessors, with the cooperation of all employees and partners. For his part, Mr. Léonard Chabot, Chairman of CIAQ's Board of Directors, said: "We are pleased to have Mario join CIAQ. Both his knowledge of the industry and his great co-op experience will allow CIAQ to remain the partner of choice in bovine genetics."

CIAQ, founded in 1948, is owned by Quebec dairy and beef breeders grouped in Fédération des producteurs de lait du Québec (FPLQ), Conseil québécois des races laitières inc. (CQRL) and Conseil provincial des cercles d'amélioration du bétail inc. (CP CAB).
